The First Post!

Today we are going to give you a brief update on the farm, we are working hard to get things settled in after some technical changes to the farm. The cows are doing well, this year we most likely will not have any new bulls to add to the roster due to challenges with doing Artificial insemination with nobody around during the day last summer. Most of our calves are on the ground at this point for 2024, and we are excited to see them grow into the next generation of beefalo.

We had one cow that has had twins, the first twin was born without issue, the second, the calf unfortunately didn’t make it, and the cow, unfortunately, went down and couldn’t get up. We were able to get the second calf out, and we had to lift her every day for 9 days with a tractor and straps before she was able to get up on her own.

She still isn’t with the other cows because she still has a significant limp, we aren’t sure if she’ll ever be able to walk normally again. But if it’s nerve damage, which seems most likely, it may just take 12-20 weeks to heal back to normal.

We’ll update you guys again soon!
